Continuing on their distinctive mission as contemporary champions of traditional Scots song, Malinky return to launch their 20th Anniversary Album HANDSEL, produced by Greentrax Recordings.
Their current four-piece line-up, centred on the outstanding voices of Fiona Hunter, Steve Byrne, and Mark Dunlop also features award-winning composer Mike Vass, with instrumentation including bouzouki, guitar, fiddle, whistle, bodhrán and cello.
Barbara Dymock
Barbara was brought up in Fife, learning Scottish and Irish songs from her grandparents. She has most recently worked in collaboration with Dundee musician and producer Christopher Marra.
Cameron Nixon
Cameron Nixon is a twenty year old Scots singer and fiddle player from Peterculter near Aberdeen. Now attending the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in third year, Cameron hopes to fulfil his time there by playing with other musicians.
Daibidh Stiubhard
Dàibhidh Stiùbhard is a traditional singer, originally from Co Tyrone. In 2018 he became the senior traditional singing champion for Tyrone and Ulster. He sings in the Ulster and Scots dialect, Irish, and Scottish Gàidhlig.
Ellie Beaton
Ellie Beaton from Rothienorman in Aberdeenshire was only 16 years old at the time of recording with the band. Overall Winner at the TMSA Kirrie Festival in 2018. Ellie sings with her own band, The Rowies, and studies at singing and piano at Aberdeen City Music School.
Hector Riddell
Hector Riddell was born in Leochel Cushnie near Alford in 1937, and now bides in Finzean, near Banchory, in Aberdeenshire. In February 2019, he was crowned Bothy Ballad Champion of Champions in Elgin for the sixth time.
Len Graham
Len Graham from County Antrim has been a full-time professional traditional singer since 1982. In 2002, he was honoured as the first recipient of the Irish television TG4 National Music Award for “Traditional Singer of the Year”.
